It comprises of three symbols:
- The heart for love
- The hands for friendship
- The crown for loyalty
An old Irish tradition is to wear the heart facing towards you to symbolize that your heart is 'taken' or facing outward to suggest your heart is still available!
This beautiful Claddagh symbol is said to be in existence since the 17th Century and to this day is still being used as a wedding ring.
